What’s in store?
Tri Wellington is thrilled to announce the launch of our dedicated Youth Squad Programme. If you are aged 10-18 and have an interest in swim, bike and run, or are eager to try something a little different, this is your chance to be part of an amazing group!
This year we are please to offer two training streams! A FOUNDATION Squad and a DVELOPMENT Squad. Read on for general information about the programme as well as the detail about each of the training streams.
- Weekly Training Sessions: Once a week sessions on Mondays from 4:30-5:30pm during Terms 4 and 1
- Enter Fun Events: We’ll be building up to the Barefoot Secondary Schools Triathlon and Duathlon in February, the Weet-bix TRYathlon in March and the National Schools Festival Tauranga at the end of March 2026.
- Expert Coaching: Learn from experienced coaches who are focused on helping you have fun and learn some new skills. Participants will enjoy expert coaching from Deb Lynch, the 2025 Coast to Coast winner among many other races, who brings a wealth of triathlon and multisport experience. Alongside Deb is Sierra Ryland, an Ironman and Ironman70.3 World Champ qualifier. Both are TriNZ Accredited coaches.
- Team Spirit: Be part of a supportive squad, make new friends, and experience the thrill of triathlon together!
- Cost: See table below. Youth are required to join Tri Wellington and TriNZ as club members. The cost of a Tri Wellington Youth membership is FREE! Tri NZ is FREE for U12, and an additional $15 for U16 or $25 for 16-22 year olds.
- Session Locations: Wellington Velodrome, Hataitai Beach, Kilbirnie Park.

NOTES:
- Locations are subject to change. Changes will be communicated via Heja app.
- Mountain bikes are ok to use for bike sessions. However, track cycling bikes will be provided free of charge for the Velodrome sessions thanks to the Track Cycling Club.
- Parent volunteers may be required. Parents are encouraged to stay for swimming based sessions and road cycling sessions.
